"Healthy Eating"

It's time to develop our readind skill.

Nutrients in food

Each type of food contains some nutrients, but no food contains all the nutrients that we need.  For this reason, it is important to eat different types of food each day.   For example, rice, avocado, potatoes, bananas, manioc and sugar contain carbohydrates.  Beans, peas, meat, fish, ebbs and milk contain proteins.  Other types of food, such as, vegetables and fruit contain mineral and vitamins.  For example, oranges and lemons cantain vitamin C.  Fruits and vegetables also contain water.  Water is important for our body.  Milk, butter, meat and avocados contain fats.
We need all these nutrients to make our body work well.  A good diet for a day should combine one, two or three portions of each type of food. 
For example:
- Two portions of whole-grain bread (carbohydrates).
- Two portions of potatoes, rice or spaguetti  (carbohydrates).
- Two portions of fruit (vitamins, minerals and water).
- Two portions of vegetables (vitamins, minerals and water).
- Some butter, margarine or oil (fats)
- Some yogurt (dairy products)
- Two glasses of milk or a piece of cheese (proteins).
- One egg or one portion of meat, fish, chicken, or pulsers, such as lentils, dried beans, peas, soya beans, nuts, etc.  (proteins).
GROUPS OF FOOD
  1. cereals
  2. vegetables
  3. fruit
  4. dairy products
  5. protein
  6. fat and sugar.                      

 EXAMPLE: DIET FOR A WEEK.
 Monday ...some bread(group 1), some carrots(group 2), an orange(group 3), and some cheese(group 4)..

 Tuesday...

Wednesday...

Thursday...

Friday...

Saturday...

Sunday...
